VBS 2008

We are still trying to recover from our VBS last week... we had a great time, but boy where we exhausted when it was all over! This year's theme was "Jerusalem Marketplace" where the kids got the chance to step back into the world where Jesus lived and meet some of His followers, learn from His teachings, etc. Ellie had a blast every night (especially when it came time to go to the "Watering Hole" for water and freezie pop!) By the end of the week, she had learned some of hand motions to the songs and knew the routine of how to travel from station to station with her tribe.
Here are some pics of the highlights:

At the "Gathering Time" with Lisa singing songs and learning the day's memory verse (sort of!)

I had to play Mary Magdalene in a couple of the daily Dramas....

... Ellie watched on with her first of many freezie pops!

My mom made her costume for the week.

Wearing the "yarmakah" she got at "Synagogue School"

Another day, another freezie pop!

Everyone pitched in and transformed the building into an ancient Jewish marketplace.

Ellie was in the tribe of Benjamin... she never did quite figure out how to say it, but by the end of the week she could say, "purple" =)

One evening at the "East Marketplace" the kids got to look at different types of seeds (they had been learning about faith as a mustard seed). Ellie tried to eat some, so we only stayed for the first half of that station!

At the "Watering Well" with her tribe discussing what they've learned so far..

At "Synagogue School"..

Another day, and yet another freezie pop!

By the last day, we were both WIPED OUT!

What an awesome VBS! We had ours last week too. Isaiah didn't have as much fun, he slept through most of it every day. Maybe next year. :)
