We listed our house for sale last week after working tirelessly for 2 months trying to get it ready to sell in this not-so-great market. Our realtor sent over a "home stager" who told us to basically empty our closets and cabinets, remove 30% of our furniture, take down all of our photos and "personal touches", deep-clean everything, and essentially get rid of (or hide) all the toys and other kiddo paraphanalia!
Although it was a lot of work, we tried to do everything on her list that wasn't going to cost us any money (in addition to moving things out, she also wanted us to put sod in the yard, buy "attractive storage baskets" for the laundry room and closet, and buy new "fluffier" towels for the bathrooms-- we decided against those and other things that we would have to buy!)
Here are the "before" shots (keep in mind, we thought we had already done a good bit of cleaning out at this point! ha! Little did we know!):

* I don't have a "before" of the Master Bedroom, though all we had to do in there was remove a bookcase and take Campbell's cradle out of the closet... can't imagine why she didn't think a cradle in the closet would be a feature buyers were looking for!
Here is the official MLS listing with the "after" shots:
